NYT writer quits after accusing Israel of ‘genocide’

Jazmine Hughes, a staff writer for the New York Times Magazine, resigned after violating the company's policy by signing an open letter accusing Israel of genocide against Palestinians. The letter, titled "Writers Against the War on Gaza," blamed Israel for deaths in a terrorist attack by Hamas. The conflict between Israel and Gaza has led to restrictions on freedom of expression, with many institutions dealing with members who feel strongly about the conflict. Hughes had previously criticized her newspaper's op-ed desk for publishing a column by Senator Tom Cotton.
