HC: Why can't unmarried women go for surrogacy?

The Delhi High Court has questioned the Centre about the legal prohibition on single, unmarried women opting for surrogacy procedures to become parents. The court was hearing a plea from a 44-year-old unmarried woman who wanted to have a genetically related child via surrogacy due to potential medical complications.
